you can find ways to divide those household chores fairly
Dishes, laundry, yard work, cleaning, cooking… oh my! The chore list is long, and the questions are many.
Who does what? How do we make this fair? Am I doing too much? Why doesn’t my spouse do more?
A big part of marriage is managing and maintaining a house and all the responsibilities a home can bring. So, where do we begin?
Here are some scenarios to think through as you talk about how to divide household chores fairly:
- You both are working full-time and focused on establishing your careers.
- You are expecting a child or have a child or children. (The seasons of childhood bring so many challenges.)
- One of you works from home.
- One of you is thinking about a career change.
There may be a season where one of you carries more household chores due to other circumstances. No matter what, you need to agree about what works for your family.
Addressing household chores isn’t a one-time conversation either. It needs to happen often. Different seasons of life bring different responsibilities.
improve your sex life with these steamy questions
I love talking about sex. No, not in a pervy way. Let me explain: I think more problems happen when sex is not discussed than when it is, especially among married couples. Get this: even nerdy science says couples who talk about sex have much healthier… and dare I say, steamier…sex lives than those who don’t! Kind of makes you want to cue up the conversations!
But just what exactly should you talk about? Uhhh… honey, I like sex… do you like sex?… Ok, cool…
No, no, not like that! There are a gazillion great questions to help couples discuss sex. Questions about likes & dislikes, turn-ons & turn-offs, mood-makers & mood-killers.
So, because I love talking about sex, and because I want you to love talking about sex, here are 7 questions every couple (That’s you!) needs to ask to improve their sex life.
what we’re lovin’
This week’s picks come from Reggie Madison, a husband, Dad of 7 (Yes, you read that right, he and his wife are wayyy outnumbered!), and the VP of Community Relations here at First Things First! Take a peek at his recommendations for this week because they are just THAT GOOD. Check ’em out 👀:
📚 Loving Your Spouse When You Feel Like Walking Away by Gary Chapman– Chapman, a trusted voice when it comes to marriage speaking to a subject matter my marriage, and I think most marriages have faced. You’ll feel both understood and equipped to persevere through difficult times.
💻 Covenant Eyes– Porn in marriage is having a tremendous effect on marital relationships. This site helps someone dealing with porn addiction. It’s also for the spouse, friend, friend or parent of someone with a porn addiction. It’s filled with information, accountability, and filtering to provide a well-rounded approach to addressing the issue.
🎾 Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort– I know this has been out a long time. It may not compare to PlayStation, XBox, or any other gaming system available. Those aren’t games me and my wife find joy in together. Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort is something more interactive that we can enjoy together regardless of our interest in sports or video games.
