be a better friend to your future spouse
Friends are people we confide in, have fun with, and can be ourselves around. Does this sound like your future spouse? If so, fantastic! It’s great to be best friends with the person you share your life with. If not, never fear; you can be a better friend to your fiancé. Let’s be real for a minute. Life can make friendships challenging to maintain, especially with those in our own house.
Here are a few ways you can enhance your friendship:
💯 Build playfulness into your daily routine.
💯 Explore each other’s interests.
💯 Have a regular date night.
💯 Show your spouse they are your priority.
💯 Make time to talk and listen.
Take your future spouse by the hand, tell them you love them, and you want to be their best friend.
pursue connection with each other
A look that needs no explanation, a touch on the arm that says I love you, an unexpected hug because even though you think you’re hiding it well—your fiancé knows you need it. Pretty much all of the warm and fuzzies happen when you feel connected to your future spouse. And there’s nothing quite like that feeling.
Having a deep connection with your partner enriches your relationship and makes it fulfilling. The understanding you have between each other, the romance, and delighting in the little things always feels more natural when you feel connected to your sweetheart.
Sometimes, it can feel a little challenging to connect when other things in life keep popping up and vying for your attention. But don’t get discouraged; there are little things you can do each day to pull your future spouse a little closer even when you’re apart.
let’s get REALatable
It’s time to take things a step further & get a little intimate with a Q&A. What do you say?😉 Learn a little bit about the faces behind all of this relationship gold. This week we’re chatting with James Woods, husband to Marquita, dad of 6, and the Community Outreach Specialist here at First Things First. Let’s get REALatable💛 & learn a little bit about him:
Q: What’s your top pet peeve?
A: 👏 I’m very big on respect & manners, because that’s the way I was raised. It’s respectful to say, yes sir, no m’am, and to always give elders their titles as well. Nothing against anyone else who doesn’t practice good manners, but they’re very important to me!
Q: What’s the best part of your job?
A: 💛 This job is something I only dreamed of at previous jobs… Helping people I can relate to is everything! My favorite part is getting to interact with people and go into my community and make a difference giving people hope and letting the world know to never give up on your dreams.
Q: What animal represents your personality?
A: 🦎 I feel like I’m a chameleon. I can typically adapt to any situation or surroundings, I like to blend in. Chameleons are great at adapting & changing for the better. (Don’t h8 me if that silly karma chameleon song gets stuck in your head all day! Oops.)
