The heart of First Things First remains firmly planted in the community of our hometown – Chattanooga, Tennessee. Because making a difference in our community continues to be a top priority of our mission, we strive to offer as many free* and affordable local relationship resources (events and classes) as possible in the greater Chattanooga community.
90-minute sessions are held each week for dads (often noncustodial) who struggle with child support or don’t get to see their child(ren) enough.
Dads learn how to:
• navigate a confusing legal system
• find and keep well-paying jobs
• deal with their past trauma
• develop healthy habits
Most importantly, we help these dads realize the important role they play in the lives of their children.
60-minute sessions are held each week for couples (specifically dads who’ve gone through DMD and their significant other) who are looking to build a healthier, stronger connection.
Couples learn about:
• expectations within the relationship
• how to communicate more effectively
• handling conflict in a healthy way
• building physical and emotional intimacy
Most importantly, we help these couples get IN SYNC so that they can fight for their relationship, rather than against each other.
*The cost to participate in these programs is covered by family foundations and private donors from the Chattanooga area.
