tips & tricks for growth
don’t allow the disrespect to slide
Feeling disrespected by your fiancé can be one of the most conflicting feelings ever. Part of you wants to believe the person you love truly loves and values you. On the other hand, it can be demoralizing and hurtful to marry someone you feel dismisses you or doesn’t appreciate you.
🚨 Not dealing with disrespect can make you feel less confident, less important, and downright angry. Trying to deal with the pain alone can make you respond to your future spouse in destructive ways. That’s why talking with your fiancé is the best medicine.
Talking about it can be oh-so hard—especially if you’ve experienced major or continual disrespect. But you can do it, and you can do it well. Here’s how to talk to your fiancé when you feel disrespected in your relationship.
don’t let stress become a killer
Are you overwhelmed with deadlines at work, school, the weekly to-do list, health concerns, drama on social media? Is stress taking a toll on your relationship? Do you find yourself taking out your stress on your significant other? If so, you’re not alone.
➡️ Stress, handled wrongly, hurts relationships. It’s a reality. Often it’s the small stressors that build up and do damage.
We all face daily stresses. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could use a magic wand and remove all the stress in our lives? The reality is we have to learn to manage stress, not let stress manage us.
Here’s how to tell if stress is impacting your relationship:
😰 Stressed out people are more withdrawn.
😰 Stressed out people see the worst in others.
😰 Stress leads to exhaustion.
😰 Stress makes us irritable.
😰 Stress causes us to put other things in front of our relationship.
let’s get REALatable
It’s time to take things a step further & get a little intimate with a Q & A. What do you say?😉 Learn a little bit about the faces behind all of this relationship gold. This week we’re chatting with Caroline Henry, wife to her husband of 3 years, Will, momma to a toddler girl, and the Event Strategist here at First Things First. Let’s get REALatable💛 & learn a little bit about her:
Q: How do you take your coffee?
A: ☕️ Usually I like black coffee, but after an aversion to it while pregnant, I’m a big fan of honey lavender lattes with oat milk!
Q: Best game for family game night?
A: 🎟 Since our daughter’s a toddler, we haven’t really started family game nights. Hide and seek would probably be the closest But my husband and I love playing strategy games like Rummikub, Ticket to Ride, 7 Wonders Duel, just to name a few!
Q: What never fails to make you laugh?
A: 🤣 My (almost) two year old being a goofball She’s just figuring out that she can make people laugh, and it’s highly entertaining to see what she comes up with!
